Sometimes it is hard to take a trip without something going wrong. Before we left for Indiana I took the car into Jiffy Lube to have the oil changed and a belt replaced. After leaving I noticed there was a rattling noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. I dismissed the noise and thought we would just have the car checked when we came back into town. We went to Indiana with no problems, but the rattling was very loud. Paul suggested that we have the car looked at before going back home. We took the car into another Jiffy Lube in Lafayette and they found that the mechanic who had changed our oil left his light in the engine. They use these lights in order to see better into the engine and it now had a big hole burned into it from the heat of the engine. So, the moral of the story is that if you take your car into Jiffy Lube and then hear a rattling sound when you leave, beware!!!

Car Problems

The next day we went to downtown Lafayette to check out the city. They had a beautiful courthouse with a 100 year old elevator in it. Cory had to tap dance in order to make the elevator move up and down, (just kidding, the elevator actually worked very well). Jake and Aubrey decided to hang out for a while on top of a huge cannon right outside the courthouse. The Easter bunny came to Cory and Jennie's house while we were there and Aubrey loved playing with her new toys. Paul and I hid eachother's Easter basket and needed help from one another in order to find them. We hid Aubrey's basket under a blanket and the blanket was a little bit heavy so we had to help her lift it up so she could see her basket underneath.

Spring Break
This last week was spring break and we had such a fun time. We first went to the Chicago temple and Paul and I took turns watching Aubrey and doing temple work. Then we headed down to West Lafayette to visit Ashley's brother and his family, Cory and Jennie. They showed us around Purdue campus (you can see their reflections in the "Welcome to Purdue" sign) and I must admit that it is one of the most beautiful campuses I have ever seen. It probably rivals BYU. All of the buildings are made almost entirely of red brick and everything looks so dignified. Everything, that is, except for the spooky head stone in the middle of campus. Mr. Purdue himself is buried on campus and I personally think that is a little spooky! We came home and Aubrey went to the bookshelf to find a good book to read, with the help of her cousin Jake.

Palm trees growin' on the head
Aubrey sometimes likes her hair to look as if palm trees are growing on the top of her head. She does NOT have any elastic in her hair, just her natural "wave"!

Touching the bars
Aubrey can't quite seem to go to sleep unless her feet or arms or some part of her body is touching the bars of the crib. We will check on her before we go to bed and her feet are suspended in the air between the bars or she will have her hands between them.

Belly Flab
Lately I have been on a no sugar diet and have been exercising and doing almost a million sit-ups a day. (Perhaps that is a very slight exaggeration, but I have been doing a lot of sit-ups.) After a few weeks of this strict diet and exercise plan, I decided to take inventory. The outcome: I still have the flabby tummy that I had when Aubrey was born. I can still grab layers and layers of flab. Does anyone else have this probem? Any suggestions of how to get rid of it?

Fun New Bath time Game
Aubrey has discovered a fun new game she likes to play while in the bath tub. She has had some infected toes and so we have been filling the bath tub water higher than normal in order to cover her toes with water and soak them. She becomes mesmerized by the water and inches her face closer and closer to the surface until finally she dips her face into the water and immediately comes up for air. She thinks this is the funniest game and will continue to dip her face into the water!

Joseph plays Itcy Bitsy Spider With Aubrey
It was so fun to have Joseph and Heidi Miller over to play. Aubrey got in some great "itsy bitsy spider" action and now wants to learn the game herself.

Love's in the Air
Alex Miller is crazy about little Aubrey Ann. At a recent dinner together, Alex decided to show the girl of his dreams that he could give good kisses. Even though they were chaperoned at the event, Aubrey and Alex still got away with this slobbery smooch. I guess we'll have to keep a closer eye on these little lover birds.
